Profile
I am an Accredited Professional Coach, in 2004 I trained with Coaching and Mentoring International, now owned by The Coaching Academy. Although I live in Chepstow, Monmouthshire I conduct most of my coaching via the telephone and I have coached clients from all over the country.
My previous background was in software development and project management. During 1996/97 I embraced my passion for life-long learning and took a year out to complete a MSc in Computing and Multimedia at Bristol University. Following this I had six fantastic years with a high-tech start-up.
I arrived at a career in coaching after several years of personal growth, contemplation and soul searching. I was seeking my next career challenge which I was 100% sure was not doing the same thing I had been doing for another 20 odd years.
From my career I bring to coaching:
- A good understanding of the fast paced realities of commercial business life
- The ability to grasp and hold the bigger picture whilst simultaneously exploring minutiae
- Proven people management skills at all levels within an organisation
- The awareness that there is always a solution, but that it might not be the one you were expecting or looking for
- A logical yet creative approach to problem solving
From my life experience I bring to coaching:
- A practical, 'can-do' attitude to life
- Empathy and compassion
- A total belief that anyone can build their own 'perfect life'
- An ability to peel 'onion-layers' to get to the truth
- A natural intuitive approach
- The voice of the little boy in the Emperor's New Clothes
Coaching is a way of life, not just a job. I first applied coaching techniques to my own life and I have changed from the inside out. I have my own coach who works with me, to set and achieve goals, share my successes and keep those gremlins at bay (yes even coaches have gremlins!).
Since 2004 I have continued my professional development by completing a qualification to work as a Coach Supervisor and I am working towards a Conversion Degree in Psychology with the Open University.
As your Coach I will:
- Support and encourage you and occasionally challenge you
- Take you and your goals seriously
- Believe in you 100%
- Listen without ever being judgmental, discouraging or impatient
- Guarantee your absolute confidentiality
- Abide by the Code of Conduct of CMI in every respect
